This FAQ is a friendly summary. Where it differs from the binding documents — the Terms of Service, Creator Terms, Content Policy, Privacy Policy, and Using FactsFigs Visuals — those documents control.

About FactsFigs

What is FactsFigs?

A platform for data storytelling. Its core is a creation tool — the Visual Story Editor — where creators design visuals from charts, maps, and datasets, then download them (PNG, and on paid tiers SVG source + data tables) to use anywhere. On top of that, FactsFigs runs a small, curated set of public data stories that readers can browse.

Is FactsFigs a place where anyone can publish?

No. FactsFigs is not an open user-generated-content site. Creators mainly design and download. Publishing on FactsFigs' public pages is a limited quota granted at our discretion.

Ownership & rights

Who owns the content I create?

You do. Creators keep full ownership. You grant FactsFigs a license to host, display, resize, and let readers download your work — only so the platform can operate. See the Creator Terms.

What license do I give FactsFigs?

A non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable license to run the service and pass download rights to readers. It is not a transfer of ownership.

Can I use a downloaded visual commercially?

Yes — visuals you create are yours to use commercially. For visuals other people made, commercial use is allowed on the free tier for individuals and small organisations, provided you follow the three rules: link back, attribute, don't edit. See Using FactsFigs Visuals.

What attribution is required?

Credit the creator, FactsFigs, and the data source, and keep the link back. Attribution is baked into the downloaded file — please don't remove it. Editing a visual requires a paid subscription and is only allowed on visuals licensed "share and adapt".

Publishing & quota

Can I publish my story on FactsFigs?

Sometimes. Subscribing creators may be granted a small publishing quota (for example, two to three posts) as an earned bonus. There's no open request-to-publish queue — access is granted at our discretion, on merit, and can grow for high-performing creators.

How does the quota work?

Your submission passes an originality/plagiarism gate first — if it fails, it doesn't use a quota slot. If it passes review (for quality, formatting, guidelines, and originality), it's published on FactsFigs' public pages under the license you chose.

Who gets the ad revenue on my published (quota) post?

For free-bonus quota posts, FactsFigs keeps the ad revenue, framed as free promotional distribution — you get a byline and a link back to your profile. A revenue-share path applies to sponsored stories and premium/high-performing creators.

What if I cancel my subscription?

Quota posts already published may stay live (for their ongoing value), and readers keep rights to visuals they already downloaded. See the survival clause in the Creator Terms.

What are sponsored stories?

Paid placements, clearly labelled as sponsored. Because FactsFigs actively chose and promoted them, they get higher editorial review.

Accuracy & responsibility

Do you fact-check or verify the data?

No. For creator content, FactsFigs does not verify, certify, or fact-check the data or claims. We curate quality — design, formatting, guideline compliance, and originality — and we check that sources are cited, not that they are correct. Creators are solely responsible for accuracy.

Then what does your review actually do?

It checks form, not truth: is it well-designed, original (not plagiarised), guideline-compliant, and are sources cited? That's it. It is not an endorsement or fact-check.

Who's responsible if data in a story is wrong?

The creator who created it. We show the sources so readers can judge for themselves. Content FactsFigs publishes itself — its own publishing — is FactsFigs' editorial responsibility.

What about health, medical, or financial claims?

Those are not professional advice, may carry extra disclaimers, and receive added scrutiny because such claims carry heightened duties in many places.

Maps & data sources

Where does the data come from?

Each visual names its data source in the attribution block. Keep that credit intact when you reuse a visual — some sources have their own attribution rules, and in the EU/UK a separate database right can apply to datasets.

What about maps?

Downloadable maps are based on OpenStreetMap (with attribution) or public-domain sources like Natural Earth, so they're safe to download and reuse — unlike map tiles from providers that forbid offline reuse.

Reporting problems

How do I report copyright infringement or illegal content?

Use the Notice & Takedown procedure, or email ai@factsfigs.com. If your content was removed by mistake, you can file a counter-notice.

Accounts & billing

What subscriptions are there?

Creator subscriptions (use the editor, design + download; paid tiers add SVG source + data tables) and reader subscriptions (ad-free viewing + download rights). Free tiers exist for both, with limits.

How does billing work?

Paid plans are billed in advance and typically renew automatically until you cancel. You can cancel anytime; access runs to the end of the paid period. See the Terms of Service.

How do you handle my personal data?

See the Privacy Policy. We don't sell your personal data, and you have rights to access, correct, and delete it (subject to legal and survival exceptions).
