Terms of Service
How FactsFigs works for creators and readers — accounts, subscriptions, content, and responsibility.
Last updated: 25 July 2026
In short. These are the rules for using FactsFigs. Use the platform lawfully, keep your account secure, and pay for the subscription you sign up for. We provide the service "as is." For content created by creators, we host and curate quality — we do not verify the facts; creators are responsible for their own data. Content we publish ourselves is our own editorial responsibility. If you disagree with these terms, don't use FactsFigs. Some specialised rules live in linked documents and are part of these Terms.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of FactsFigs — our websites, the Visual Story Editor, downloads, public content pages, and related services (together, the "service"). By accessing or using the service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. FactsFigs is operated from the United Kingdom.
1. Defined terms
- FactsFigs / we / us / our — the operator of factsfigs.com.
- Creator — a user who creates, downloads, and (where granted quota) publishes content using the service. Governed additionally by the Creator Terms.
- Reader — a user who views and (on eligible tiers) downloads content. Governed additionally by Using FactsFigs Visuals.
- Content — visuals, text, datasets, and other material created, uploaded, or published via the service.
- Visual — a data visualisation (chart, map, dataset-driven graphic) created in the Visual Story Editor.
- Quota — the limited, discretionary allowance for a creator to publish content on FactsFigs' public pages.
- Own publishing — content that FactsFigs itself researches, creates, and publishes.
- Sponsored story — paid-placement content, clearly labelled as sponsored.
The Creator Terms, Content Policy, Privacy Policy, and Notice & Takedown procedure are incorporated into and form part of these Terms.
2. Who FactsFigs is
FactsFigs is primarily a SaaS creation tool and hosting platform for data storytelling, plus a small, controlled first-party publication surface. Creators use the Visual Story Editor to design and download visuals for use anywhere, and may be granted limited quota to publish on FactsFigs' public pages. Readers view content (free tier with ads; paid tier ad-free with download rights). FactsFigs also runs sponsored stories and its own publishing. FactsFigs is not an open user-generated-content site: creators cannot freely publish, and publishing is a discretionary quota.
3. Eligibility and accounts
- You must be old enough to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction, and at least 13 years old (or the higher minimum age required where you live). The service is not directed to children below that age.
- You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for activity under your account.
- Provide accurate account information and keep it current.
4. Subscriptions, billing, and cancellation
- Plans. FactsFigs offers creator subscriptions (tool usage: design + download, including SVG source + data tables on paid tiers) and reader subscriptions (ad-free viewing + download rights). Free tiers exist for both, subject to limitations.
- Fees and renewal. Paid plans are billed in advance and, unless stated otherwise, renew automatically until cancelled. Prices, currencies, and taxes are shown at purchase.
- Cancellation. You may cancel at any time; cancellation stops future renewals. Access continues until the end of the paid period unless stated otherwise.
- Refunds and consumer rights. Any mandatory cancellation or "cooling-off" rights that apply where you live are unaffected. For billing questions, contact ai@factsfigs.com.
Revenue arrangements specific to creators (quota ad revenue, sponsored stories, revenue share) are in the Creator Terms.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the service unlawfully or to infringe others' rights;
- upload or publish prohibited content (see Content Policy), including plagiarised or infringing material;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to the service, accounts, or systems;
- interfere with, overload, or disrupt the service;
- scrape, harvest, or use automated means to access the service except as expressly permitted; or
- remove, obscure, or tamper with attribution or license information baked into downloads.
Misuse may result in content removal, loss of quota, suspension, or termination.
6. Content, ownership, and licenses
- Creators retain ownership of their content and grant FactsFigs the operating license described in the Creator Terms.
- Readers receive download/use rights under the license the creator selected, as explained in Using FactsFigs Visuals.
- Data sources must be credited, and database rights and map-tile constraints respected, per the Creator Terms and Content Policy.
- FactsFigs' own marks, software, and own publishing remain owned by FactsFigs or its licensors, except for rights expressly granted here.
7. We do not verify accuracy (creator content)
For content created by creators, FactsFigs does not verify, certify, or fact-check the data or claims. Creators are solely responsible for the accuracy of their data. Our review of quota and sponsored submissions is limited to form — design quality, formatting, guideline compliance, prohibited content, and originality (plagiarism) — and to checking that sources are cited, not that they are correct. This review is not verification, endorsement, or fact-checking. Content FactsFigs itself researches and publishes (own publishing) is FactsFigs' editorial responsibility. We show data sources so readers can judge for themselves. Content making health, medical, or financial claims is not professional advice.
8. Disclaimers ("as is")
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the service and all content are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, or uninterrupted or error-free operation. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you, and any non-excludable statutory consumer warranties remain in force.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- FactsFigs is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary damages, or for loss of profits, goodwill, data, or business, arising from the service or content.
- FactsFigs is not responsible for decisions you make based on creator content whose accuracy we do not verify (Section 7).
- FactsFigs' total aggregate liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid FactsFigs in the twelve months before the claim arose.
Nothing here excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law — for example, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
10. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless FactsFigs and its service providers against third-party claims and reasonable costs arising from your use of the service, your content, or your breach of these Terms. Creator-specific indemnity is detailed in the Creator Terms.
11. Intermediary status and takedown
FactsFigs seeks to preserve its status as a neutral intermediary/host for content it does not create, and to act promptly on valid notices and on knowledge of illegal content. Depending on where you and the content are located, this engages regimes such as the EU Digital Services Act, the UK online-safety regime, US Section 230 for hosted third-party content, and DMCA safe harbour for copyright. To report content, use the Notice & Takedown procedure. Sponsored stories and own publishing carry higher editorial responsibility because FactsFigs actively chose or created them.
12. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these Terms, the Content Policy, or applicable law, or to protect the service or others. Certain provisions survive termination, including ownership, license survival (see Creator Terms), disclaimers, liability limits, and indemnity.
13. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute — without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rights and remedies available to you under the law of your country of residence, which are unaffected by this section.
14. Changes to these Terms
We reserve the right to change these Terms at any time, at our sole discretion. Updated Terms take effect when we post them on this page, and the "last updated" date above will reflect the change. For material changes we will provide reasonable notice (for example, on-site notice or email) and, where required by law, will give you the notice period the law provides.
The same applies to our other policies — the Creator Terms, Content Policy, Using FactsFigs Visuals, Notice & Takedown procedure, and Privacy Policy — each of which we may update from time to time. We may also change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service, including plans, features, quota allowances, and pricing, on reasonable notice.
Continued use of the service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not accept them, stop using the service and cancel any subscription. Changes are not retrospective: they do not affect rights already granted in downloaded files or otherwise preserved by the survival provisions in the Creator Terms.
