Write for FactsFigs.
We commission data analysts, designers and writers to take a public dataset, work out what it actually says, and turn that into something a non-specialist can follow. This is a job, not a submission queue — and it is how everything on this site gets made.
What the work is
- Find the data. Public, already published, from a source you can name. Every figure we print has to be one a reader can go and check.
- Work out what it says. Including what it does not say. The interesting story is usually the one the headline number hides.
- Build it. Charts and maps in our own editor, with the shared libraries our designers keep stocked.
- Write it. An editor reviews every piece before it publishes, and your name goes on it.
What helps
A link to something you have made is worth more to us than a CV — a chart, an analysis, a notebook, a piece you wrote. We care more that you can find the story in a spreadsheet than about which tools you used to do it.
Read the Creator Terms before applying — particularly the sourcing standard, which is the part of the job that is not negotiable.
