Street Fighter II, once its four versions are counted as one game
Street Fighter II is the best-selling Street Fighter game at 14.05 million copies, across the four versions Capcom lists past a million: the SNES original, Turbo, Super, and the Mega Drive Special Champion Edition. No single Street Fighter II release is the biggest, though. That is Street Fighter V at 8.00 million, the largest one-row figure in Capcom's entire Street Fighter record. Street Fighter IV sits between them at 10.60 million across five releases. Capcom puts the whole series at 60.0 million as of 30 June 2026.
Capcom is the one publisher in this series of posts that maintains a per-title table and restates it quarterly. The cost of that precision is that it reports versions, so the obvious question - which game sold most - takes arithmetic rather than a lookup.

The sourcing, stated first
Every figure on this page is Capcom's, from the Platinum Titles page it restates each quarter, as of 30 June 2026. That page is the cleanest per-title record any publisher keeps, and it has one property that shapes this whole post: it lists RELEASES. Street Fighter II is four entries on it, Street Fighter IV is five. So the ranking you see is of releases, and the table further down groups them into games. Which of those two answers the question depends on what you meant by it, and the honest version of this post gives both.
The biggest game, the biggest single release, and the copies Capcom’s page does not list.

The longest bar
Street Fighter V has sold 8.00 million copies on PS4 and PC, which is the largest figure attached to any one Street Fighter release in Capcom's record. Street Fighter 6 follows at 7.20 million and is still selling, so the gap is closing rather than fixed.
Third is the one that complicates the ranking: the SNES Street Fighter II at 6.30 million, from June 1992. It is a thirty-four-year-old cartridge sitting inside the top three of a list that includes everything Capcom has shipped since.
The two modern entries have something in common that explains their position. Each is one product sold across a console generation, patched and expanded rather than reissued, so all of it lands on a single row. The older games were re-cut and resold, and their sales are spread across as many rows as there were versions.
Adding the versions up
Capcom lists four Street Fighter II releases past a million: the SNES original at 6.30 million, Turbo at 4.10 million, Super at 2.00 million, and the Mega Drive Special Champion Edition at 1.65 million. Together that is 14.05 million copies, and the sum is ours rather than Capcom's.
Those four sit 3rd, 4th, 8th and 11th on the chart. Not one of them outranks Street Fighter V on its own, and together they beat it by six million. That is the whole reason this post exists as a ranking of releases with a table of games underneath rather than one list.
Street Fighter IV does the same thing at a smaller scale: five releases totalling 10.60 million, none of which places higher than sixth. The version era did not end with the 1990s; it ended when Capcom started selling one edition for a generation.
What is not here
Capcom's page lists nothing under a million units. Its separate series figure puts Street Fighter at 60.0 million as of the same date, and the fourteen releases here total 46.65 million. So 13.35 million copies of Street Fighter exist in releases too small to be listed, with no per-title figure anywhere official.
That is not a gap in the research; it is the design of the source. The same floor is why Street Fighter Alpha 3 appears once at exactly 1.00 million while its other ports do not appear at all, and why a game with many small releases can be undercounted here relative to one with a few large ones.
Arcade units are a separate absence. Street Fighter II's arcade run is the reason the game is famous, and a cabinet is not a copy of software. Nothing on this page counts one.
In the chart, not the table
Two of the fourteen charted releases are not mainline entries, and both earn their place on the chart while being wrong for a table of games. The Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection has sold 3.90 million since May 2018, which would put it fifth among the releases. It is a compilation of twelve arcade games, so counting it as a game would mean counting Street Fighter II twice: once in its own row and again inside this one.
Street Fighter X Tekken is the other, at 1.90 million from March 2012. It is a crossover built with Bandai Namco's roster rather than an entry in the series, and Capcom's own Game Series Sales page keeps crossovers separate from the Street Fighter total for the same reason.
They are shown rather than deleted because the chart is a chart of what Capcom lists, and quietly dropping two rows from a published table is the kind of edit that makes a ranking unverifiable. The table below is the one that answers the question about games, and it says in its footnote exactly which two rows it leaves out.
The mainline games
Capcom’s releases grouped into the games they belong to. Releases is how many separate entries Capcom lists for each.
| 1 | Street Fighter II | 1992 | 14.05 | 4 | SNES 6.30, Turbo 4.10, Super 2.00, Special Champion Edition 1.65 |
| 2 | Street Fighter IV | 2009 | 10.60 | 5 | Base 3.70, Ultra 2.50, Super 1.90, 3D Edition 1.30, Arcade Edition 1.20 |
| 3 | Street Fighter V | 2016 | 8.00 | 1 | One release |
| 4 | Street Fighter 6 | 2023 | 7.20 | 1 | One release |
| 5 | Street Fighter Alpha 3 | 1998 | 1.00 | 1 | One release, on PlayStation |
Mainline entries only. Capcom also lists the Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection (3.90M), which is a compilation of twelve arcade games rather than a game, and Street Fighter X Tekken (1.90M), which is a crossover; both appear in the chart above and are left out here. Every figure is Capcom's own from Platinum Titles as of 30 June 2026; the per-game totals are our sums of its release rows. The five games total 40.85 million, the fourteen charted releases 46.65 million, and Capcom puts the series at 60.0 million, the difference being releases below its one-million listing floor. Arcade cabinets are not software sales and are not counted anywhere here.
When this changes
Street Fighter 6 is the row to watch. It has sold 7.20 million since June 2023 and is the only entry here still in its selling life, 0.80 million behind Street Fighter V. Capcom restates Platinum Titles quarterly, so the top of the release chart could change at any update.
The game ranking is harder to move. Street Fighter 6 would need to pass 14.05 million on its own to take the top spot from Street Fighter II, which no single Street Fighter release has ever come close to doing.
Every sales figure on this page is Capcom's own, from its Platinum Titles page as of 30 June 2026 and its Game Series Sales page of the same date. No estimate sites or sales trackers were used. Capcom lists releases rather than games and publishes nothing below one million units, and both of those facts are stated wherever they affect a number.
Our own arithmetic is marked where it appears: the per-game totals are sums of Capcom's release rows, as are the 14.05 million for Street Fighter II, the 10.60 million for Street Fighter IV, the 40.85 million across the five mainline games, the 46.65 million across the fourteen charted releases, and the 13.35 million difference against Capcom's series total.
